Micro-needling

What is micro-needling?
It is a minimaaly invasive procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. New collogen and elastin production can reverse years of sun damage, improve acne scars and enhance the overall appearance of aging skin.

What are the advantages of microneedling?
Micro-needling also helps the skin absorb treatment serums (such ad hyaluronic acid or Vitamin C) 80% more effectively deeper into the skin. Think of it like aerating your lawn when fertilizing.

Who is a good candidate for Micro-needling?
Micro-Needling is being used for acne scars, fine lines, skin tightening, shrinking pore size, melasma and stretch marks. For deep acne scarring the treatment of choice would be laser resurfacing or scar revision by a plastic surgeon.

How many treatments will i need?
Typically, you will see results after the first treatment.

Skin rejuvenation and mild acne scar we recommend 4-5  treatments.

Deeper acne scarring and stretch marks we recommend 5-6 treatments.

An interval of 4 -6 weeks between treatments is typically recommended.

What is the difference between micro-needling pens and dermal rollers you can buy online?

Micro-needling treatments can be performed at grades that range from superficial to deep depending on the needle depth. Most home devices only penetrate .25mm which only affects the epidermis ( top layers of your skin). Medical devices will penetrate as deep as 3.0 into the skin to the dermis for better results.
