What is a microdermabrasion?
A microdermabrasion is a noninvasive procedure that offers a safe, controlled removal of the top layer of dead skin cells known as the stratum corneous.
What are the advantages of this procedure?
The microdermabrasion is beneficial in two ways. First, the abrasive action of the crystals removes the layer of dead skin leaving the skin soft, with a youthful glow. Second, the vacuum action helps increase blood flow to the skin, stimulating the production of new collagen.
How does the microdermabrasion work?
A highly controlled spray of fine medical grade aluminum oxide crystals are applied to your face followed by a vacuum system that pulls up the dead skin and crystals. Afterwards, a soothing, hydrating cream is applied to treated area. The procedure takes about 30 minutes.
Does it hurt?
Generally, the microdermabrasion procedure is virtually painless. Some clients may experience a sensation resembling a light sunburn or windburn.
How many treatments are needed?
The number of treatments recommended for maximal results range between 5 and 12 treatments, spaced 1 to 3 weeks apart. Major changes like reduction of fine lines and hyperpigmention become visible after five treatments. Maintenance treatment is recommended at least every three months.
